Tejendra carried this letter to me from the Mr. Bista, the vice Principal at ShangriLa School.. (note: the first three kids he refers to all lost family members in the earthquake. we began sponsorship and put them into boarding so they could feel cared for and can heal)

"Didi Namaste!

Here we are fine and hope you too. I have sent all the report cards and the letter of the students. When I go through the report cards, I found the three new students, Sange, Karma and Nima failed in many subjects but they are improving. It may shock you but Didi they are from Government school from remote areas. It will take time to improve them. I assure they will improve especially Sange and Karma very quickly. Karma who missed (lost) all the family members except one brother who is monk has bit problem. He suddenly gets up in the midnight and sometimes he talks alone himself..may be case of missing his family members.

All the children are happy and feel hostel (is) their home. Sushmita and Krishika are much happier than (before). Sometimes their parent come to meet them. They like hostel more than home. (note: these two girls just started at school after the earthquake..they came from a destitute slum in Kathmandu). Neetisha’s mum met me before Dashain (holiday) break and she cried with great joy of getting dress and money. I told them to thanks Didi for providing all the things to you. (note: we gave a tee shirt and small pocket money to each child as a holiday gift this year to cheer them after all the trauma they have been through. This was actually Mr Bista's idea and an excellent one.. the kids were delighted).
Didi I want to give you hearty thanks to make all the kids happy. Their happiness makes me happy too. I appreciate your hard job and Tejendra’s convincing power, he is really a joyful person who suggests and I obey to carry out his suggestion. Whenever you suggest me good things which will help the children I am ready to do my duty. My motto is "other happiness is our happiness". I care all the entire things and (am) open to Tejendra and he will brief you on everything. Didi, we have holiday for Tihar for a week and the condition of the nation is very bad. We have been using firewood to cook food for the children. (note: there is no cooking gas available because of a blockade from India over political wrangling!) We have no any lapse to fulfill the desires and needs of students. Lastly, I would like to extend my hearty thanks to all the sponsors who have been sponsoring children to educate in my school. Didi, convey my best regards and Namaste to all. Thanks and hope to see you soon in Nepal. We will sit and discuss more for the development of the children.”
